Satellite Channels and Keyboard Access

I have added a Satellite option under the channel options menu. This should start to cater for those of you out there with Sky. Because of the complexity of Sky’s packages, I have omitted options to specify your package for the moment while I figure out the best way of tackling it.

Also, and this is a really cool one… you can now control zingzing by using just your keyboard. Great when you are sat in front of the telly. Let me know what you think.

Regional TV Listings Now Live!

Hope everyone is well. I know is quite a basic thing for a TV listings site to have but the programming behind it was an insane task to get perfect and bug free. That said, if anybody is having difficulties changing regions or packages, please let me know and I will get a fix in. Happy viewing.

Thanks for all the feedback I have been receiving and welcome if you arrived here from BBC Backstage. I am working flat out to get regional channels into the grid. This is my top priority and should be live in the next couple of days. A big sorry to all my viewers who are affected by this.

Speed Improvements – Search

I have made a number of under the hood improvements to the speed of the site, the most notable being free text searches and grid rendering times. Hopefully this will free up some resources for much more complex / relevant searches.

New Provider Options – Freesat, HD

This weekend, I have mainly been improving the quality of the data on the grid. Found a couple of bugs in the process so this was well worth the effort. I also added Freesat and HD options to the provider menu on the main grid which will make a lot of people happy!

Star Ratings

One of the least used features on the website is the star rating system at the moment. To combat this, I have opened up this functionality to all users, not just registered ones. Check it out and let me know what you think. Hopefully this will make the related and top shows data much more accurate.

OK, I’ve taken onboard a lot of of the feedback I’ve been receiving about the site design. On the whole, most of it is positive but there are some areas where it could be tightened up.

1. Getting rid of the round corners on the EPG. Bringing the interface flush to the edge of the page. This will help on smaller monitors as well as getting the whole thing looking a bit more slick, less bubbly.

2. Adding content back to the bottom of the page. Haven’t quite nailed down what I want to see here but things like top shows and blog entries would be great. I am really keen to see blogging used throughout the site.

Finally, I’ve been meaning to set up this blog for ages.

Thanks everybody for all the fantastic feedback I have been receiving, good and bad. I use this feedback to plan out what features to add to the site and welcome any suggestion you may have on making it even better.
