Why are record amounts of money pouring into sport? The LA Lakers are starting the new NBA as the most expensive sports team in history after being bought for $12.5bn. Record sums have also been spent on the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and English Premier League teams Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks. Is it really being driven by the search for an AI proof investment? Sal Galatioto is the man billionaires call when they want to buy or sell a sports team and he explains why the prices keep on climbing. Leading TV sports rights executive Daniel Cohen, of Octagon Global Media Consulting, explains the impact this is all having on how we watch and how much we pay. Ben Thompson also hears from the billionaire founder and CEO of Fanatics, Michael Rubin, and how fans are continuing to splash out on replica shirts, trading cards and other merchandise.
