Mary Louise has made the journey down from Angus, bringing an oak lectern that has valuation expert Simon Bower beguiled. It’s a ‘proper’ antique, which means Ian will always be interested, but exactly how does he plan to fit it in his caravan? The room goes international with our second item of the day, as Stephen comes all the way from Vienna to visit Leith Theatre. He’s bringing a painting by celebrated Lancastrian artist James Isherwood, a name the dealers are sure to recognise. Fans of alliteration will enjoy debonair Duncan’s dinky toys. Condition is king when it comes to these, though, so will he come to regret playing with them in his younger days? Next to face the dealers are sisters Liz and Sharon, selling some heavy gold masonic chains. Usually, scrap metal queen Mel would be the dealer to target, but with new dealers the Rag & Bone Bros in the room, she might face stiff competition. There’s always space for an unusual musical interlude in the room, and today is no different. Jackie has brought along a Balinese gamelan, but will her exotic offering be enough to conjure up a bid from the dealers?

First through the door today is mystical Claire. The oddity of her quirky crystal ball augurs well, but is it desirable enough to help her find a fortune? Next up facing the dealers are Sally and Linda from Durham, with a range of medical posters their dad rescued from a skip. Condition will be key, so what will valuation expert Simon Bower’s diagnosis be? Third to try to make a sale is wheeler dealer Greg, with a chest he believes came from a historic White Star ocean liner. Objects associated with the Titanic and its sister ships are always of interest, but they need perfect provenance if they’re going to make a tidy profit. Unlike Greg, Samantha can guarantee her offering is authentic: a letter sent to her by Mother Teresa after they met at an awards ceremony. It’s the type of lot Simon usually advises should be put into a specialist auction, but will any of the dealers be tempted to make her an offer? And last but not least, in what initially sounds like a follow-up to one of Dickens’s finest works, it’s a tale of two Nigels in the valuation room. There’s a French travelling salesman’s case up for grabs, but it’s something of a mystery item, as nobody is quite sure what...

Young Benjamin’s got an eye for a bargain, Kevin’s hoping the dealers deliver on his Pashley bike, and will the font of all knowledge, Peter, sell off an intriguing family heirloom? Making a beeline for the bidders today is Benjamin from Leeds. He’s brought a Balinese Ubud painting picked up in a local charity shop. Will his exotic artwork prove a lucky find? Gloria has come all the way from Forfar to sell her dumb valet. One of the dealers will surely be tempted – if not to sell on, just to keep their many glamorous outfits in ready-to-wear condition. Who will purchase Peter’s prize-winning miniature church font, designed many years ago by a family member? It’s perfect for the man or woman about town who wants their own ecclesiastical antique but can’t quite fit the full-sized thing in at home. This bijou bargain, on the other hand, would even fit in Ian’s caravan. Wheeler-dealer Kevin rolls in next, with his iconic Pashley delivery bike. It once belonged to famous listings magazine Time Out, but given his high reserve price, Kevin is in danger of having to cycle it straight back to London.
